- We NEED To Keep WatchKeep your eyes open for strange vehicles ! We had a pick up truck in front of our house that I hadn't seen before. It was there early in the morning and still there at noon. In looking at it, the steering cover was broken off exposing the ignition lock. I promptly called the Peoria Police and they ran the license plate number. Sure enough it had been stolen the night before in Glendale, and dumped up here. The officers theory is some person in the neighborhood needed a ride home and used this means. And I thought I knew my neighbors. Oh well! Keep your eyes open to strange vehicles, as the Police appreciated receiving this tip so soon after it was stolen. Maybe it will help to track down the hoodlems.
- How Secure are WE ?This afternoon (Sunday) I answered a knock on my door, and the Police Officer said he needed to check something in my backyard now! I held my dog and let him in. He went out the back door with his gun drawn and I knew that was no place for my, so waited by the door. As he went around the side two heads popped over the fence, of additional officers. They asked where their buddy was, and I pointed toward the side. They changed positions to see and at the same time the first officer called out. At this time there was another knock on the door and before my wife could open it two officers let themselves in, and said they were going in back, again with guns drawn. Shortly the three returned with a young man in handcuffs. They asked if I invited him to my yard or knew him, also if i wanted him back. With negative answers they were booking him on criminal trespass. It apperas they were chasing him for something else and he started jumping fences, to get away. All this and my 3 dogs never knew he was there, even though they have access to the back yard 24 hours.
So NEVER feel you are secure. Anyone can come over a back or side fence at any time, even broad daylight.
My thanks to the Peoria Police.
